Lessons from the Decade.

Everything has a learning.
A decade just ended and made me a different human being. I’ve recollected lessons from past 10 years. Sharing them here hoping they might help you.

• TAKE CHANCES – In class 11th, for the first time in life I chose my favourite subjects without thinking “science leni chahiye kyunki sab lete hain” .
Our choices shape us to a large extent and choosing what we actually believe in, keeps our attention undivided.
.
• ENCOURAGE PEOPLE – My psychology teacher in school encouraged me when I was a student with anxiety and low self-esteem. Her belief made me less hesitant. Encouraging others is a deed that can change lives. When we see a person with a sparkling soul, we must tell them how capable they are.
.
• COMMIT TO RIGHT ENERGIES – My relationships have taught me commitment and unconditional love. But I’ve also learnt to keep away from parasitic, draining, manipulative and emotionally abusing people. It saves energy.
Keep the ones with right energy close to you. Never get misguided by the ones who don’t help you evolve. Spending time with right people works collaboratively.. there’s win-win on both ends.
.• FOLLOW YOUR HEART – My Mind-Body-Soul is aligned with Yog and Dance. The best decision I’ve taken in past 10 years is to do this as my work!
Follow your calling, align with your truth. It might get tricky sometimes but you’ll figure it out. Plan a few things before taking the leap of faith. Also leave some space for pleasant surprises. When you are synchronised with your purpose, universe helps you even when you see dead ends in front!
.

• PERFORM NO MATTER WHAT – Dance is my biggest love as well as my biggest learning! It is a philosophy of joy scripted with body movements and expressions. It has taught me to keep going while enjoying every move, scar, jump and fall. It has taught me to fall and get up. It has made me the star of my life..so when the lights fall upon, I present my best version.
.
• TRAVEL MORE – What all I’ve learnt about patience, appreciating diversity, respecting nature, accepting human differences, unbreakable bonds that go beyond distance and time.. everything is because of traveling!
Never miss a chance to pack your bags and leap to another part of the world! The more you’ll travel, the more humble you’ll become.
.
• STAY HERE AND NOW – Yog has peeled off the layers of chaotic pretence. Yog taught me that the biggest gift is this moment. There’s no back or forward. It is just this moment. Know it. Observe it. Appreciate it.
.

• EFFORTLESS EFFORT – I’m done calling my life ‘tough’. We may do it like it’s a burden or we may do it like it’s a part of the dance.
Don’t romanticize being a victim and cry over working too hard to achieve anything. Sway. Be Easy. You got this! What you perceive is what you get. Never focus your energy on “oh everything is so tough.” Rather shift the perspective to “I will make it!”.
.
• WORK AND MOVE ON – I learnt this the hard way. Clinging to the achievements of the past blurs the future vision. What we have achieved is an add-on, like many other things.
Don’t be obsessed with it, rather start planning for your next challenge. Detachment is the biggest lesson. When the work is done, it must be left to thrive.
.
• TEAM WORK – My work as a Dance Artiste requires teamwork. Learning from people, maintaining a camaraderie, putting the best foot forward as a team regardless of the ups and downs teaches a lot. Teamwork builds character. Neither be a bully, nor a submissive person. Explore yourself because every member of the team has unique strengths.
.
• HELP WHENEVER YOU CAN – The world is a better place when we try and uplift the ones in need.

.
• LOVE – The essence of humanity. The truth that will save all of us is love.
It takes courage but don’t worry..it gets as easy as you make it. The love in you will recognise the love in another being..be it human, animal or plant.
.
• HOPE – Lessen the doubt. Increase the hope. No matter how many failures we face, struggling and chaotic days we may have seen, we still wake up every morning because we are hopeful.

.

• FITNESS – after taking my health for granted, I learnt the importance of a healthy body and mind when I collapsed at a social gathering in 2012 because of low blood pressure.

A healthy body and healthy mind is true wealth. Food, sleep and mental peace should be our priority over any personal or professional commitment. Fitness has been my lifestyle since then and I am not just talking about physical fitness. Mental stability, peace of mind and happiness are even more important.

.
.
GRATITUDE – I started practicing gratitude from past year and it just turned my life around! I never knew there was such power in ‘Thankyou’.
Being thankful for everything we have at this moment is like opening doors for better things to enter our lives. Universe listens to the language of gratitude.
